Electric striker David Williams is surely on the cusp of a Socceroos call-up after having already represented Australia at under-17, under-20 and under-23 level and played in the UEFA Cup for Danish powerhouse Brondby.

Williams, who signed a three-year deal with Brondby in 2006 after impressing in a second set of trials, has continued his eye-catching rise through the Australian ranks by becoming an integral member of Graham Arnold's Olyroos squad. Arnold's side is expected to qualify for next year's Olympic Games in Beijing with Williams a very strong prospect to make the trip to China if Australia is successful in booking one of the three available AFC places.

At Brondby, a club with a fine pedigree of developing up-and-coming talent, Williams has been a revelation in the U-squad, the group for players born between 1986 and 1989. A catalogue of goal scoring displays has seen him promoted into the first-team setup on a number of occasions, the highlights including an unforgettable debut goal in the Danish Superliga and two appearances in the prestigious UEFA Cup against German giants Eintract Frankfurt.

As a 17-year-old, Williams was selected to represent Australia at the 2005 under-17 World Championships in Peru after scoring ten goals in his first ten matches as a junior international including top-scoring at the Oceania qualifying tournament. He was also picked for the Australia under-20s squad at the 2006 Asian Youth Championships in India following a brief spell with A-League club Queensland Roar during the 2005/06 season.
