Divalicious was conceived in the ladies dressing room at His Majesty's Theatre; the love child of two chorus girls who were irresistibly drawn to the spotlight.

Fiona Cooper Smyth and Penny Shaw met in The West Australian Opera Chorus 2001 and eyed each other with suspicion for many years; both wondering, modestly, if Perth had room for two beautiful, ambitious, talented coloratura sopranos? Fiona found Penny's enthusiasm for having children (four!), vulgar and Penny found Fiona's blonde hair a confusing and well...tasteless contrast to her cut-throat business sense.

On discovering, however, that they shared the same 'unusual' sense of humour, they realized that collaboration was the only way forward. After many glasses of champagne, a number of spectacular hissy fits and some patient refereeing by Perth's Lord High Pianist, David Wickham, DivaLicious was brought screaming and kicking into the world!

As experienced baritone wranglers, Fiona and Penny had no trouble landing the wonderful Robert Hofmann as Guest Star, when they need a man and, despite spending the rehearsal period looking slightly bewildered, he has now embraced all things Divalicious (although he does draw the line at wearing the tights). So, hold on to your wine glasses, DivaLicious have arrived!

Opera favourites such as “The Barcarolle” from The Tales of Hoffman; “The Flower Duet” from Lakme; World Cup Hit “Nessun Dorma” and sound bites from Carmen to Carmina Burana, Mozart to Mamma Mia.

Cross over songs as “Nella Fantasia”, “Unchained Melody”, “The Prayer”, “Time to Say Goodbye”.

Musical Theatre with songs from The Phantom of The Opera, Westside Story, My Fair Lady, Showboat, Les Miserables and more....

Overall - be mesmerised as these two colourful coloratura sopranos rival the role of Violetta as they sing the ultimate operatic party song “Sempre Libera” from Verdi’s La Traviata, or be enthralled as they take your through the heady heights of top d’s, e’s, and f’s in the tour de force of coloratura singing with The Queen of the Night’s aria from Mozart’s Magic Flute sung as a dynamic duet!

Alternatively, sit back and relax to the soothing songs of “She Walked Through the Fair”, “Over the Rainbow”, “ Ave Maria”, “O Mio Babino Caro” and more..
