ENIGMA STRING QUARTET

BASED: Sydney, Australia

Formed from the cream of the classical collective, the Enigma String Quartet Sydney offers the highest calibre musicianship and presentation for the discerning client. These young professional musicians have the passion, energy and talent to set them apart and will add elegance and glamour to any occasion. Performing a wide range of styles from classical to contemporary, the quartet is widely experienced with all types of engagements, from concert hall performances to corporate functions, television appearances, launches, weddings, parties and studio recordings.

	Marianne is currently completing her Masters of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she holds a full APA scholarship. She gained her Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in 2004. Marianne is currently working with Australian Chamber Orchestra as part of their Emerging Artist’s Program. She has performed as a soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Queensland Orchestra, the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and the Barrier Reef Orchestra. Marianne was 2^nd prize winner of the Gisborne International Music Competition in NZ and the winner of the Kendall National Violin Competition and North Queensland Concerto Competition. Marianne has played in masterclasses for Pinchas Zukerman, David Takeno, Anthony Marwood and Valerie Oistrakh. She has played on the Today Show, Mornings with Kerri-Anne, Sunrise and the Big Arvo, and has performed with artists such as Patrizio Buanne, Ronan Keating, Russell Watson, Vanessa Amorosi and Wayne Newton.

	Kerry completed a Masters of Music with Distinction in 2004 from the Australian Institute of Music, studying with Alice Waten. Kerry was the winner of the NZ National Concerto Competition performing with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and a prize-winner at the Gisborne International Music Competition. She was soloist with the Sydney Chamber Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto which she also performed with the Christchurch Youth Orchestra. Kerry currently teaches violin and chamber music at the Australian Institute of Music and is the Artistic Director of the resident Chamber Orchestra, ARCO. Kerry performs regularly with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. She has recorded for ABC Classic FM, and performed on Mornings with Kerri-Anne, Australian Idol, Sunrise and the Today Show. She has played with Kanye West, Patrizio Buanne, Glen Shorrick, Doug Parkinson and Wendy Matthews

	Shelley graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Music from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom in 2001. Shelley then gained her Masters Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester whilst freelancing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia and the orchestra of Opera North. She continued her postgraduate studies on the viola with Roger Benedict (principal violist Sydney Symphony) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2005. Shelley currently performs with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra as well as being part of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. Shelley will be performing as a soloist with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra during their national tour later this year. Shelley has performed with Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Il Divo, and Patrizio Buanne.

	Kristy completed a Bachelor of Music with First class Honours at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1998, studying cello with Nelson Cooke. In 2000, she completed the Advanced Performance Program at the Australian National Academy of Music and was selected for the Sydney Symphony Orchestral Fellowship Program last year. Kristy has recently been awarded a full time position with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. She was recipient of the Elisabeth and Keith Murdoch Travelling Scholarship, enabling her study in Vienna with Howard Penny and has toured Europe, China and America with the Australian Youth Orchestra as principal cello. Kristy has also toured and recorded with the Cat Empire, as well as performing with John Farnham, Russell Watson, Marina Prior and Patrizio Buanne. In 1998 she premiered and recorded on CD New Skin New Wine; composed for her by Tullia Ashton Lomax. She has appeared on Good Morning Australia and the Today Show.
