The off-beat, but dead stylish quintet Hip Mo' Toast have set sail, equipped with an extended crew, bound for the most stimulating of listening sensations on a Big Band Cruise!
Jazz chanteuse Libby Hammer leads the all-star Hip Mo' Toast Big Band, boasting a nine-piece horn section carefully selected from Perth's leading jazzmen.

Shake together (not stir) a horn section dripping with orchestral know-how and experience with true Hip-Mo'-fun and with-it-ness, and you've got a swingin' band that's just like Hip Mo' Toast, only bigger!

The Hip Mo Toast band's auspicious debut for the Perth Zoo's Centenary celebrations is proving them already to be a sought-after blend of sophistication and playfulness.
An evening on "The Toast Boat" promises something for everyone! The contagious rhythms of "The Theme From The Blob" and "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" will have you cha-cha-cha-ing all the way to Carioca-ville! Raucous blues numbers or slick swing tunes made famous by the likes of Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin will see you Lindy-hopping and shuffling at least til last martinis.

The Hip Mo' Toast Big Band is a 14-piece outfit comprising Lib the vivacious vocalist, the regular 'Toastie guys, who play tenor saxophone, piano, bass and drums. In the Hip Mo' Toast Big Band we have an augmented rhythm section, which in this case means we have a guitarist too! So far that makes 6, and 2 alto saxophones and a baritone saxophone, 3 trumpeting trumpeters and 2 slide trombones all add up to a veritable hatful of young talented musicians, all of whom are the very quintessence of seemliness.

The Hip Mo' Toast Big Band has played at places such as the Perth Jazz Society, The Fly By Night Club, The Perth Zoo's Centenary Celebration and at various outdoor concerts and festivals.
The Hip Mo' Toast Big Band has also enjoyed two record-breaking residencies at the Greenwich nightclub in downtown Perth and the Varga Lounge in Northbridge.
