PAUL MAC

Paul Mac is one of the leading figures in Australian electronic music.

Hes a conservatorium graduate and a multi ARIA award winner for his work with underground dance pioneers Itchee & Scratchee and for his own debut solo album. Hes scored music for films and TV. His remixes of acts like Powderfinger, Grinspoon and Silverchair have also established him as this country's pre-eminent remixer.

Pauls acclaimed gold selling debut solo album 3000 Feet High was released in August 2001 by indie label, Eleven: a music company through Virgin/EMI. Recorded in his Blue Mountains studio, the albums first single sold out its pressing within a week of release. The second single, the gold selling anthem Just The Thing (featuring vocals by Peta Morris), was a ..1 multi format hit. This was followed by the top 5 airplay smash The Sound Of Breaking Up (also featuring vocals by Peta Morris) and the irresistible Gonna Miss You (featuring vocals by Abby Dobson).

To add to his impressive list of achievements Paul was named Producer of the Year at the 2001 Australian Dance Music Awards. He was also named Dance Artist Of The Year in Rolling Stones Readers Poll and won the 2001 APRA Award for Most Performed Dance Work.

In 2002 Paul was acknowledged by his musical peers with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Dance at the Australian Dance Music Awards. He also received his second ARIA Award (Australias Grammy) for his work on 3000 Feet High and was again voted by Rolling Stones readers, Dance Artist Of The Year.

Paul formed a band with Silverchairs Daniel Johns called The Dissociatives in 2004. Their self titled debut album was one of the most acclaimed releases of that year. The album was also a commercial success yielding two top 40 singles and was certified gold within a week of its release. The Dissociatives received six nominations at the 2004 ARIA Awards including Best Album and Best Group while their visual guru, James Hackett, walked away with the awards for "Best Artwork" and "Best Video".

In late 2005 Paul released his much anticipated sophomore solo album. Titled PANIC ROOM the album was written and produced by Paul in his Sydney inner city home studio. Peta Morris returned to deliver the opening single (Sunshine Eyes) showcasing Pauls trademark emotive lyrical punch once again. The single debuted in the national top 30 and the albums first club track (Panic Room) achieved top 10 in the national dance charts.

Like 3000 Feet High, the new album features vocalists Abby Dobson and Peta Morris. Other high profile guest singers this time around include Luke Steele from the Sleepy Jackson, Lenka from Decoder Ring and former Superjesus front person, Sarah McLeod. PANIC ROOM also features exciting new voices like Papua New Guineas Ngaiire and NZ soul sensation Aaradhna.

Now to celebrate the new year and the album's second top 10 club track, the break up song with attitude ('It's Not Me, It's You') Paul is heading out on the road for his first shows of 2006. Paul is included in the stellar lineup for the Good Vibrations festival in Sydney in Feburary. He then follows this with a string of special gigs at Universities around the country as well as a few other dates. As with his recent special Homebake performance, Paul will be joined by his band, multi vocalists including Peta Morris, Abby Dobson, Ngaiire and the temple of ecstasy choir.

The third single from PANIC ROOM, the made-for-Valentines-Day anthem 'Love Declaration', will be heading out to radio and clubland early February.
