PLANET SQUARE BASED: Adelaide, South Australia We dress up like nerds, we dance like nerds and generally....WE ARE NERDS. The show is fun and unpredictable, the songs are user friendly, dancy and interactive. The whole night is full of surprises. Since 1995 Planet Square have performed hundreds of times to varying crowds throughout Australia. As well as being a well respected and established cover band in the local scene, Planet Square is also well known on a national level for various original tunes. Playing a mixture of retro classics to the latest hits, from the Bee Gees to Devo and Nirvana, a night with the squares promises to be an unforgettable night of dancey tunes and unpredictable carry-ons. Characters include regulars...Singer - Norval Butt (the perv), Keyboards - Ruprect Spencer (the unco with bad teeth) and Bass - Duncan D Duncan (the - thinks Hes cool -unco) as well as 3 exciting young additions in 2000, Cindy So-Good the queen of dork, Mr Anonymous on Drums - Ponsford Ruderbaker (the musicians friend) and new axe man Basil Vonfats (the professor). The general philosophy is to keep the audience entertained by variety, familiarization, dancing and participation. The focus on stage is deliberately being moved all the time, by means of vocal flexibility of the band, character carry-ons, and costume changes. The band has risen from obscurity 5 years ago to become arguably the most popular cover band in Adelaide, converting beautiful people everywhere to the way of the nerd. This highly polished act has performed hundreds of times, playing every type of venue from Town Halls to the largest Dance Clubs, A Ten Pin Bowling Alley, National TV in front of millions and even one or two Weddings.
