Also known as proteanism, or meta-morphing – it is the art of changing costumes at lighting speed in front of an audience within seconds – leaving no trace of how, when, and where each set of clothes disappear each time. Due to it’s rareness, complexity & lengthy time in preparation for a quick change show, it is one of the most exclusive and impressive illusions there is in theatre. Today, traditional quick change is sporadically performed throughout the world. There are only a handful of artists who have dedicated themselves fully to this art, and very few who are internationally acclaimed performers. Those lucky enough to witness this magical illusion, will no doubt agree that it is a mesmerizing, fascinating, and mind-boggling spectacle.
Gavin & Lydia are Latin-American & Ballroom Dance Sport professionals. Trained in the United Kingdom & based in Brisbane, they have represented Australia together on the competitive Dance Sport circuit since 1996. Their titles started at home as undefeated State Latin-American Dance Champions, followed by success as Paris, Belgium, & Greater London Latin-American Dance Champions. Their first step into theatre began in year 2000, when Producers of the award winning Irish dance extravaganza “Spirit of the Dance” spotted them at a training session at Pineapple Dance Studios in London, and asked them to star as headliners in their new production “One World”. They have not looked back from stage shows since, and are now living their passion in producing, choreographing, and performing all over the globe. Their credentials as elite athletes and former coaches to some of Australia’s finest dancers have led them to write and produce Australia’s first Latin-American dance instructional media “Dance with me” – filmed in the heart of Australia’s Gold Coast and now sold to over 15 countries worldwide.
