Andy Harper’s journey with football began as a four-year-old.

Andrew 'Harps' Harper was an Australian Football legend who played in Australia's National Soccer League (NSL) for a number of significant Teams including Sydney City, St George, Marconi, Brisbane Strikers and the Newcastle Breakers.

Since retiring from professional Football, Andy has written three books, Sheila's, Wogs and Poofters (the biography of the late Johnny Warren), Mr & Mrs Football and, more recently, The Socceroos: Voodoo to Destiny.

Andy has been a commentator on SBS covering the 1998 FIFA World Cup; he covered the European Championships in 2000 and 2004 with Fox Sports and hosted Channel 9's coverage of the 2002 World Cup. In July 2006 Andy joined the Fox Sports team covering the Hyundai A-League, and as a co-host of Total Football.

Andy is a regular contributor in the print and electronic media's coverage of football in Australia, and was also the inaugural Chief Executive of Sydney FC.

Andy’s Damascus Road experience took place in Paris on the bitumen of the Champs Elysees, whilst covering the 1998 World Cup for SBS Television. It was there that he was hit by the sledgehammer of Football’s global significance. Previously he’d known this, but it was in Paris that the unequivocal reality of it became overwhelming.

Andy’s wish is that Football won’t rest on its 2006 laurels, but will push on, through and up.
