Dani Vittz

Based in Sydney, I have over 25 years’ experience in Cartoons, Design and Illustration for Advertising, Corporate Communication, Design Studios and Publishing Houses both Australia wide and internationally.
My designs and illustrations have been published in magazines for ACP Magazines and Pacific Publications in Australia and internationally for Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Rolling Stone and Speed.
For the past 6 years my freelance projects include: scamping or storyboarding; designing corporate identity, promotional material, packaging and some magazine adverts; digital illustration; basic web editing via word press and desktop publishing.
I have created thousands of live caricature portraits, adding bubbles of laughter at both private and corporate events  – from the height of elegance at Dolton House to a casual BBQ party.
I successfully performed as a Live Caricaturist/ Cartoonist at events for clients such as Ashfield Library, Aldersgate House, Aon Risk Services Australia, Baker & McKenzie, Baulkham Hills Shire Council, Cosmopolitan, Cricket NSW, Eckfactor, De Bortoli Wines, Hilton, Level Nine Wentworth Chambers, Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Merivale, Nickelodeon, Nutrimetics, Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation, Richmond Medical Centre, The School Photographer (School Principals Conference), SBS, Variety the Children’s Charity, The Zoo and Aquarium Association and many more.

Production Notes – Live Traditional Caricatures
Entertainment type: Hand Drawn Caricatures

  • Quick live cartoon portraits of guests that creates bubbles of laughter.
  • A4 drawings are placed in a plastic sleeve and handed to guests.
  • A3 drawings are rolled, secured with elastic and handed to guests.
  • Couples and Groups can be drawn as well on A3 paper.
  • I prefer the guest has a portrait of quality that is a good likeness, even if it’s a quick style.
  • Therefore, when seated I draw about 10-12 people per hour.
  • Interruptions such as speeches will reduce this number.
  • I usually draw just the face and shoulders as its quicker.

I supply the paper and drawing materials.
Paper is either 130 -200gsm card or drawing paper.
My preference is to sit and draw as I’m faster and my portraits always look better this way.
For this I need:

  • 2-3 chairs and a small/ medium table or a similar set up.
  • to be at a reasonable distance away from very loud speakers/ noise.
  • if indoors, good lighting so that I can see people’s faces for the hours that I’m working.

Otherwise access to a power point for my table lamp.

  • If roaming is required, then the number of guests I can draw reduces to about 6-8 people per hour. It takes time to introduce yourself and explain what you are doing as you roam. This usually takes up 20-30% of the time.
  • Client stationery can be used. Please use paper of at least 150 gsm with smooth, non porous surface.
  • All portrait artwork is produced for non-commercial use.
  • If you require more portraits done, then I can help you book other cartoonists.

Award presentations, farewell gifts, corporate end of year celebrations or just for fun.

Portraits can be hand drawn or created digitally and sent electronically so you can print your own. Email a few good photos together with a theme.

De Bortoli requested a B&W of 10 male staff to celebrate their fund raising efforts during Movember.

Featherdale Wildlife Park wanted a unique gift to celebrate two milestone events for their managers. Colleagues sent their main characteristics plus a theme. The end results were two hand drawn portraits that truly represented their personalities.
