GREG RITCHIE - CRICKET LEGEND

BASED: GOLD COAST QLD, AUSTRALIA

One of life’s characters, Greg Ritchie is your one-stop shop for after dinner speaking. One of Australia’s premier MC and After Dinner Speakers, Ritchie will ensure your function guests are informed and entertained.

Ritchie played 30 cricket Tests for Australia from 1981-1987, scored 1690 runs at an average of 35, including three centuries and seven half centuries. Greg played for Queensland for 10 seasons. In the year 2000 he was named as one of the seven greatest Sheffield Shield run scorers in Queensland’s history for amassing over 6000 runs for his state.

In over 30 years of cricket, and media, including Channel Nine commentary team and Triple M’s Morning Breakfast Show, Greg has amassed an entertaining repertoire to entertain, motivate and inspire your guests, and his comedic anecdotal cricket stories see him regarded these days as one of Australia’s best after dinner speakers.

Sporting Star - TV & Radio Personality

One of the characters of the game, and affectionately known as “Fat Cat”, the burly Ritchie developed into a first class batsman who possessed wonderful timing when in full, glorious flow.

Ritchie’s first venture to foreign shores was an unqualified success in an otherwise disastrous tour of Pakistan in 1982 and he headed both Test and tour averages, the only Australian to reach three figures in the series (106 not out at Faisalabad). Then much to his chagrin, he was dropped for the Ashes series against England a few months later.

Ritchie forced his way back into the Test team for the 1985 series in England against the Poms and was one of the success stories of the tour in a team, which was badly defeated.

Ritchie played 30 Tests, scored 1690 runs at 35 including three centuries and seven half centuries. Greg played for Queensland for 10 seasons. In the year 2000 he was named as one of the seven greatest Sheffield Shield run scorers in Queensland’s history for amassing over 6000 runs for his state.

Since retiring in 1986, Ritchie has had a continuous media career. This has included two years as a part of the Channel Nine and Optus Vision commentary teams, and three years as part of Brisbane’s Triple M’s weekday breakfast show where his unique sense of humour was a feature.

Ritchie also launched his character Mahatma Cote on television for the first time and became a regular on the Channel Nine Footy Show in Sydney. Mahatma still appears on radio programmes around the country.

Greg Ritchie is virtually a one-stop shop in after dinner speaking, a motivator capable of inspiring corporate clients and he is a most humorous raconteur. He can MC an evening, act as auctioneer and his comedic anecdotal cricket stories see him regarded these days as one of Australia’s best after dinner speakers.
