During her 15 year military career, Major Matina Jewell (Retired) tracked down warlords, completed the physically demanding navy dive course, led clearance-dive teams in the Arabian Gulf, worked with our SAS and US Navy SEALs, fast-roped from helicopters and led amphibious operations as Head of the Ship’s Army Department for two years aboard HMAS Kanimbla, then Australia’s largest warship – at just 23 years old!
