These are only a few of the glowing credits attributed to Nikki Bennett.
In 1987 Nikki won a major prize in the prestigious Australian Singing Competition, and she has never looked back.
Discovered by a leading Sydney talent agent, she performed internationally for a while with her cabaret show, but soon found herself in Melbourne where she signed both recording and publishing deals with the iconic Mushroom Records.
Over the next few years she wrote and recorded with some of the most influential names in the Australian rock industry , eventually joining the cast of the phenomenally successful resurrection of the tribal rock musical HAIR.
During her years in HAIR, she also began a run of regular appearances as guest artist on the highly popular television show Tonight Live, with Steve Vizard and her national profile increased significantly
Between 1993 & 1996, Nikki was lead singer of one of Melbournes most popular bands , Swing City, but her solo television appearances continued .
Then in 1996, a move back to Sydney saw a change of musical direction and the beginning of what is now one of Australians most stellar cabaret careers. In '97 Nikki became one of the Midday Shows most regualar and most popular guests and for four years, she appeared every single week on either Midday , Good Morning Australia , or the revamped In Melbourne Tonight . Her popularity rocketed, and in 1997, she was chosen by SOCOG to represent Sydney to international delegates with the song Welcome to My Sydney.
In 2001 she was the guest entertainer at Russell Crows famous New years Eve Party, and in 2002 she was flown to The Soccer World Cup in Seoul, where she was the special guest at the Queens Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Nikki has performed in more than 20 countries, and lists her most unique stages as the world renowned Orient Express in Russia, a glacier top in New Zealand (where she had to be flown in by helicopter), and the dry Todd Riverbed in Alice Springs, which had been transformed into a black -tie ballroom for 800 people and where the stage was actually the back of a truck. .
But it was her starring role in the 2001 Dreamworks feature film, Walk the Talk, which brought her to international attention. Writer and director Shirley Barrett wrote the lead role for Nikki after seeing her on an episode of the Midday Show, and her performance won her glowing critical acclaim both in Australia and internationally.
Nominated five times by the Australian Entertainment (MO) Awards as Female Variety Performer of the Year, she was also the face of the Sydney Cabaret Convention for three years and is now one of the most successful and highly sought after performers on the international corporate entertainment market.
